Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! The Robb household had a great time celebrating Jesus' birth. Noah got to sing happy birthday to Jesus at Church. During practice, the helpers said that Noah was the loudest singer and was dancing all around. But when it came time up front he just hid and refused to sing. He also was the only one that brought a toy with him, he would not put it down.

We had a Christmas party with our extended family, Noah danced with his great grandma.

We also visited some friends and saw santa

Each Christmas I get Noah a special gift from me, this year it was guns, which he loved

I know what you are thinking, What 2 year old can read, well Noah can't. But he is great at remembering things. He memorized what we say for most of his books and alot of songs on the radio as well. He even knows about 8 Christmas songs from this year.

Happy Thanksgiving! Now I know why they call it stuffing, I am still full!

After getting some pumpkins from the local patch, we set out to making them look scary

Noah decided that the knife was to sharp, so he would paint his instead of risking any injuries right before trick or treating

Noah got to go Trick or Treating for the first time dressed as a Dragon. But first Steph wanted to take him out for a photo shoot, he did not cooperate very well and she only got 2 pictures.

Now that our obligation to endure torture is out of the way, we get to go get some candy.

My little Pumpkin

100th POST!!!!!!!! Wow, who knew I had so much to say and so few to read about it, just kidding I hope you still love catching up with our family on the 100th blog as you did on the first.

The other day we headed to a local pumpkin patch to get.... a pumpkin, go figure.

I feel like I should point out that there were some corn launchers that you could buy tickets for and shoot corn husks at targets, Noah was scared of them and decided the best defense was to cover his ears, maybe because I told him they were launching ears of corn he did not want anyone to shoot his ears off

Noah was very interested in the nature talk when we stopped in the woods on the way to the pumpkin patch, here you can see him contemplating the adverse effects of human waste on the natural habitats of the indigent animals

Now for daddy's favorite part, the apple cider, again we are close to the cannons so he covers his ear,

You can see the corn cannons behin us, so Noah's solution was to cover his ears and explain to me what he wants me to play with in front of him. Pretty much making me be his arms and play for him

Noah had a great time, and I got to bring home some apple cider. A WIN WIN for the whole family

I was going to start by apologizing for the long delay, but I think that this may be closer to the norm now. Between my new job, coaching soccer and the energetic Noah, blogs are going to be a little less frequent.

That being said, Here are some shots of our new house, they are only from the outside due to the mess still inside as we get better settled in.

Steph, Noah and I got the chance to join her family on a vacation down at Edisto Island, SC. This was the first long trip we have taken with Noah and he did a pretty good job on the 12 hour drive. We left around 8pm and he fell to sleep around 10, now he is used to short 2 hour trips, like the ones we would take to visit our parents so at 12 am he woke up expecting to be at our destination. Noah stayed awake until 3 in the morning, but he did not fuss or cry, instead he just talked with us and watched out the window.

Here is the sign as we get to the island, Noah loved crossing the bridge and got upset when it finished, which is the opposite of Steph she got upset when we were on the bridge and loved it when it finished.

The first thing we did when we arrived was to take Noah to the beach. at first he was unsure of the sand and the water. He kept trying to wipe of any sand he got on him, but I explained that that would be a pointless task, so he did his best to ignore how messy he was.

he also only wanted to be in the water if he was being held, he got a kick out of me getting hit by waves

Noah pouting because we made him stop playing in the sand so him and I could go take a nap

while Noah and I were napping, everyone else got to see a bunch of dolphins jumping in the ocean.

One of the days we went to see an aquarium, I know what you are thinking, Josh you were already at a free place that had a bunch of fish and other wildlife why would you pay to see the same thing. Don't ask me it was Steph's idea

As I mentioned in my last blog, Noah had his 2nd birthday. So, now that the sugar rush has worn off and all the thank you letter have been sent out (they have, right Steph?) We get the chance to look back and enjoy the celebration.

First let us start with the morning, I made Noah some birthday pancakes for breakfast.

Enjoying the pancakes and all the attention on him, of course that is a normal morning for him anyways

I am back, and we have alot to catch up on. Part of the reason that I have not blogged in such a long time is that we have moved back to our home town. Things have been realy crazy, new house, new job, no internet. But we have got everything back together. Steph, Noah and I want to catch you up on our life by posting a couple of blogs this weekend.

The first is update is about Noah and his amazing golfing abilities

Noah got some new golf clubs for his birthday, so we decided to go to a local golf course and try them out. Noah started out by letting me show him how to swing the club, but he quickly picked it up.

I showed him that proper care of his equipment helped improve his game, and that it was fun dunking the balls into the cleaner

After a little while, Noah decided he knew all he needed and refused my help

There was a slow group in front of us so Noah had to wait at the tee box

taking a full swing on the green, Noah made a 40 foot shot from just off the green. He walked up with his chipping wedge, lined it up and hit it on to the green and it rolled right into the cup

Dad and son, the only birdie we saw was in a tree, but we had a good time. I think i got Noah hooked, which I will have to help him straighten out if he wants to continue

The other day we went to a ball game with my brother and his family. Noah had a great time and he even watched some of the game.

We had a great time, Noah even got a ball from one of the players. He threw it back on the field but I was able to get it back for him. The highlight of his night was hearing a siren outside the stadium, man I could of saved some cash and hung out by the fire station for a while.

Now that the warm weather is here, Noah has been able to get out and about a little more. Our first stop was to visit his uncle at the fire station.

This past week our family was busy getting ready to head down to Florida for my cousin's wedding. We were going to head out on Friday, but Noah thought it was better for him to get sick the day before. We ended up staying a couple days in the hospital so that the doctors could keep an eye on him. It was pretty stressful for us parents, but Noah was a big boy and did really well. He did develop a fear of any doctor that would walk into the room. He would point to the door and tell the person Bye-Bye to try and get them to leave.

As the weather has started to turn a little warmer, we have tried to get Noah outside more. He loves going to the park, so I meet them for a picnic during lunch one day.

March Madness

Wow it seems like each blog has been followed by an even longer break. Life gets busy some times. Here are a couple of things to help catch you up with our lives.

Noah has been asking to have trigger help wake him up after naps. They both love this time together.

After a nap, Noah gets a snack. Sometimes he shares his snack with his furry friend

At church, Noah got to give some change to the Annual Missions Piggy Bank Giving Day Thing (I think that is the official title)
First he needed a photo with his best church buddy

than he headed up front to donate his money

Noah keeps turning around to watch his image on the big screen, he was also holding on to one penny and did not want to give it up. I had to remind him of the story in the Bible about people withholding money from God, that made him let go

Noah invented a game he likes to play when he is in his jumper.

this does not seem to have any effect on his coordination, he falls just as much as before

The other day Noah saw me wearing a hat and wanted to try it on. This was new since I have been trying to get him to wear hats for a long time. He would always take it off and throw it, but something about the hat I was wearing caught his attention and he wanted it. So I gave it to him and he put it on and kept it on for a long time. He thought he was sooooo cool.

Lately Noah has been learning some new games.

He got a basketball hoop from his grandparents and loves to play with it. He was a little scared at first when it talked to him. He would be real careful about turning his back to the hoop. He also will not rebound his own shots but waits for one of use to do it for him. Also through most of these videos you will see Noah freak out once he sees the camera

He also plays boring games with Steph, you know girly games like ring around the rosy. At least he is polite and pretends to have fun with her so she feels good

For my birthday I decided to get Noah a present so that he could golf with me. He is doing well, although I think after watching soccer on tv the other day he combined taking a fall he saw some players do and thought it would transfer to his golf game

Finally when he is relaxing he created a game of his own

Noah is not the only one with game. For that fake holiday we just had I made Steph some special treats

one and a half men

Last weekend Steph went on a trip with some of her friends and Noah and I were left to fend for ourselves for a couple of days. We made a dude-bro pact that we would stick together and get through the weekend like men. We started with a trip to the store to get some food, by the way Noah ate all his vegetable that weekend without a fuss something his mom could not get him to do. The next morning we woke up to find another blizzard had hit the area. So Noah and I went out and shoveled the snow. That afternoon after we had played with all Noah's toys and read every book he has, I came up with the best idea ever..... A FORT!

When Steph got home, I showed her the fort and Noah and I went into it. When Steph tried to come in with us Noah got really upset and tried to push her out. He would not let her in, he would let the dogs in but not Steph.

So if you haven't seen the news lately or peered out the window if you live in the north east, you may have missed the dusting of snow we received. After a night of freezing rain and wind, we woke up to find a day off from work, well at least it was a day off from my normal work, since Steph refuses to let me buy a second shovel, I had a lot of work to do outside shoveling by myself. Noah usually helps but since the snow was taller than him I let him sit this one out.

Baby Genius

Sorry about the delay, but I have been busy filling out and submitting applications for all the ivy league schools. Noah has always been advanced, but lately he has really out done himself. let us start with his puzzle he got for Christmas. At first all he could do was laugh at the sounds, than he started chewing on the pieces, but the other day I sat down with him and asked him where each piece went and he was able to put them in the right spots. After that I stopped handing them to him and asked him to pick it up by just the name and he got every single one.

Next I got out Noah's memory game and tried to see if he was able to find the matches and he picked it up right away, by "picked it up" I meant the concept not the pieces.

Another way he is showing his smarts is when we got him his training potty. Not only did he help me set it up

He grabbed something to read while he did his business

and got a high five for his efforts

While he has not mastered this task yet, he is happy to fart on me and laugh, I think this is a positive step in the process

With knowledge comes the desire to communicate with others. Noah for the longest time refused to say anything but lately he was really started to talk. Steph found out that if you give him a choice between "momma" and "dadda" he will say whichever choice was last, so she always asked him who is his favorite with "momma" being last so that she can continue to live in denial about his true feelings. She thought she would be smart and videotape his response, but Noah had other plans

Now I do not want you to think that we are only focused on learning and work. We have time to play and goof off

Sorry for the long delay, but we have been busy with some family things and have just returned to our semi-normal life, at least for today.
Christmas, This year Noah was able to help open up some of his presents. He got a lot of fun things this year

Santa came to town and I thought it would be a good idea to introduce Noah so that he would not be scared if he woke up and found him in our house on Christmas. He is a better alarm than our dogs who do not know when I get home, (I once was able to sneak into the house and walk up behind our dog Mioh and scared her when I came home for lunch.) Noah says Da Da before the dogs bark when I open the garage door.
So we went to our local park where they had a Christmas walk with Santa and his wife Mrs. Claus hanging out at the end to greet the kids.

I also wanted to do a quick shout out, we were at Steph's Family Christmas last weekend, and there were a lot of good Cooks there, and I don't just mean in the kitchen

Taking a shuttle so that my wife does not have to walk, she was scared of the OSU fans, who kept telling me to break up with her and that I could do better, I did not listen to them

We got to hang out with one of my college roommates for a little while

Once we got into the stadium we watched the warm ups, and I think we interrupted something special between two of the Michigan people

Sorry for the delay, but we were all supposed to bring something to my family's thanksgiving and Steph brought the flu to share with everyone. Now that I can return to the living I think I can catch you up on our recent events.

Thanksgiving!
First we had to pack up and drive over to visit our family. Noah was so excited to ride in the car

Just to remind you that picture was taken through a mirror, I am driving not Steph, it looks like she is driving and taking the picture at the same time, which would be dangerous and against my parenting policies.

Once we arrived we unpacked and had to show off our cool new hats

I had to convince Steph to get these, I told her that all the fashion magazines said matching head wear is the new vogue for families of three this year

Thanksgiving morning consists of us all helping make food and this year Noah did his part

I told him if he ruined that pie he would have egg on his face but it turned out great and the yoke was on me

I told Noah that the egg said something bad about his mom so he beat it

after making the meals we stopped for a quick photo opp. We get a lot of request of more pictures of those good looking hunks, but somebody has to hold them so John and I got to be in the picture as well

I know that this title does not say much, because most of my blogs are about him. So if you were looking for a expose on the rift between the Olsen sisters or a breakdown of this seasons hottest video games, you will need to find a different blog.

Let us start with how my boy is growing up. We had to go get his hair cut this last week and he looks more like a boy than a baby all the time.

He did real good and did not fuss to much, here are some more pictures of him getting his hair chopped off

So the other day I was thinking about when Noah was little and Steph needed a break she would say, Your turn to watch him, I am taking a bath. So I would be in charge of Noah for one hour. Most babies fall to sleep when I hold them (I think it is the calm confidence I exude that helps them relax) but for what ever reason they do. SO I would put Noah to sleep and play some video games. It was easy.

The other day I saw one of my friends post a picture online of him and his daughter doing the same thing. I wonder if we ever played online against each other like that?

Now that Noah is a little older and Steph limits him to one nap (more on that later) I have to let him play with me

It was surprising that he is actually better at playing than Steph

Don't worry I did not let him win. I want my son to earn everything in his life and not get things handed to him, and he stopped crying after 20 minutes anyways. I don't think my victory dance and rubbing it in his face helped much either

Now about limiting Noah's naps, the other day Steph left me in charge of Noah all day and told me he might get tired around 10:00 and 2:00. We must have been having so much fun that Noah took 3 naps, and I did not have to force any of them. He would walk back to his crib and want to get in it. When I would set him in he would lay down and go right to sleep with out fussing. Steph could not believe it when she got home.

After finishing up our video game, I put away the stuff and left. Steph took some picture of what Noah did while I was gone. I think he was looking to see where the video game characters went when I turned it off, or he was just trying to be ornery for his mom.

Steph really wanted to watch the horse race today to see if that horse, Zelda, would win. Noah we found out, loves horses and he started what we would call his horsey dance

I do not know if it was his grandpa's banana cookies or what, but Noah was a little hyper tonight, besides the horsey dance Noah was playing the hug game with his mom and he was trying to stand up and walk around in his bath while throwing all his toys out of the tub. To top it all off when I was getting him dressed after the bath, he tried to fart on me. How do I know he was trying? Well he let out a little fart which made me laugh and that was my mistake. He kept trying to fart so much that he his face was turning red and he had a tear come out his eye, and guess what else came out, PEE! Yep about 2 gallons of pee all over his clean body and changing table. Steph thought it was funny, I quickly put on a diaper before he could poop on me.

Let me start off this blog with a couple of pictures, the first is a picture of how I found Steph sitting on the couch with the computer.

Yes that is right, Steph had on some rain boots, and No she was not planning on going anywhere

Maybe she was expecting Noah's flood, he had been drinking alot of water so maybe his flood was going to happen at his next diaper change.

This next group of pictures is of our last visit home, we got the chance to hold our nephew Eli

Now that he is being held by his favorite Uncle Josh, he is content and ready for a nap, which sees to always happen when I hold babies

Now on to my pumpkin, no, not Noah but my jack-o-lantern

First we needed to clean out the seeds, Noah was not a big fan of touching the seeds

I think Noah was confused why we were letting him get messy, his mom usually get upset when he gets messy

Now that is is clean we need to map out what we are going to cut, we were going to do his name, but we had a couple of problems so we went with the traditional look instead

Now I need to get into the cutting mode by focusing my inner knife skills

While I found my inner slasher, Noah double checked our clean out job

Than he supervised my beginning cuts gave me some pointers on how to make better shapes

So using Noah's advice, I got to work

Sorry for the long delay, Noah has been very boring lately and refuses to learn new words or actions so I have not had much to blog about. With the lack of sleep even my normal creative humor has been missing. But I am all caught up on sleep and Noah is ready to show off his latest adventure.

By the way, I am really proud of my title, the title works three ways. 1.we had an amazing time, 2.we went to a corn maze, 3. corn is called maize

Noah's first corn maze, but this was not the first time he was lost. when he goes somewhere with his mom, that happens all the time

Getting ready to enter the maze, the mazes theme was under the sea

but the only time we had to hold our breath was when Noah pooped

Through out the maze, there were stations where you could stamp you paper to earn a prize at the end, Noah though it was funny when I would yell that I found one down a dead end and all the little kids would come running

Noah kept looking behind us because he thought he was being stalked, I told him that is what the corn grows on

We tried using Noah on my shoulders to help find the way out, but he was just looking for some cute girls he meet before the maze

Victory! We made it out with only a few casualties

After the maze, they had a large wagon with corn that kids could play in like a sand box

After this we found some corn in his diaper, not surprising this was not the first time we found some in there

This really set us back with teaching Noah not to play with his food

Well that was our fun day at the corn maze. We ended the day with some of the best apple cider ever. I gave Noah a sip and before I could pull my hand away he grabbed it and chugged the rest down.

As the weather is slowly getting cooler, we wanted to spend as much time outside as possible with Noah. Since he is really chubby, I want to instill in him the desire to go outside and burn some calories.
So we headed out into our yard for some family time. First up baseball, well tee-ball, but he is a natural, mostly because he practices all the time with my head

I was trying to teach him the best way I knew, I told him to pretend it was his mom's head, he proceeded to hit it off the tee run to the ball and continue to hit it on the ground, I do not know what a psychologist would say about that

And finally, Steph taught Noah a new trick that he only does with her. Eskimo Kisses, where you rub noses I always wondered about why they were called that, but after seeing someone get there toungue stuck to a pole durring the winter, I know why they choose something other than a french kiss, that would be awkward to explain to your parents after an iglo sleepover, why you were stuck to someone else after playing spin the icicle.

Popsicles and Pancakes

As is our normal custom on weekends, I made some breakfast for my family, most mornings when I make pancakes I give the first couple to Noah and than Steph and I get to eat.

A Roberts Tradition that I try to carry on

Well our son seems to have no limit to the amount of food he can put in his belly. After eating one whole banana and three pancakes as well as a whole glass of milk, I got him out of his seat so he could play while Steph and I ate. He kept coming up to us and crying so I gave him another pancake, his fourth! whenever he has food and is not in his seat, he likes to go to the door in the kitchen and sit against it and eat. That particular morning, we had on the radio and while eating he started to dance.

Later that weekend, Noah started a new game with his laundry basket

He liked to chase the dogs while he was in his bubble

Noah had a sore throat last week so we thought we would try a toddler Popsicle to help make him feel better.

Also, Steph thought it was time for Noah to try his hand at being an artist, so she got out some crayons and paper and Noah did some doodling

Sorry for the long wait, but as Steph likes to remind me, you love something more when you have to wait for it. Of course she is talking about the desert she made and how I have to eat all my dinner first. So here is what we have been up to

This last week we were able to do a couple things with Noah that we did last year at this time. The results really showed us how much Noah has changed and grown up.

First we went to watch the local high school football team and the band. Last year we went to the home coming game and Noah got to hang with me (pun intended).

This year, Noah was able to sit for himself and cheer along

He got a little tired of watching all the action so we went down and watched from the side so that he could run around and pretend to be in on all the football action

Noah wanted to practice tackling and I decided to help him, I think he watched the Giants Sunday and was reenacting what he saw Eli doing

looking thoughtfully, or trying to figure out which one of us farted

Heading home after the game, talking about how the 3-4 defense was used to help cover the mobile quarter back instead of the 4-4, Noah tried to argue but by the time we made it to the car he was seeing it my way

Later that week we went to the park, a thing we did alot last year. See earlier posts for more details and funnier jokes than what I subject you to now.

Noah loves the park, I think it is because he gets to check out the little girls and point at them, he is still to shy to talk to them

Noah is now able to climb up and go down the slide almost by himself so he has a lot more fun at the park

Mioh has been a little hesitant about Noah since he was born, Noah has been trying to show Mioh how they can be best friends.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, I am glad I have unlimited minutes on my phone based on the pictures I pulled off of our cell phones. I decided to dedicate this blog to posting those pictures from both Steph and my phones. Also, a bonus couple of videos at the end that you will not want to miss.

This is one of Steph's favorite thing to do with Noah. Put funny things on him, every time we go shopping she tries at least one thing on him

He takes after his mom

As Noah continues to grow and develop his own personality and style I have noticed that he has some traits from me and some traits from his mom. I will use this blog post to lay out which traits are from each of us.

Crying when he does not get his way

This one should be obvious...Steph, when Noah gets something taken away from him or he gets yelled at for doing something he shouldn't he starts his fake crying which was learned from his mom whenever I take away her ice cream or chocolate. Here is a video to show you what Noah looks like when he throws his little fits

Dancing like a cast member from Step Up 3D

This one is a talent he got from me for sure. When ever some music comes on with a catchy beat Noah feels the need to break out a dance. This is not the first time I have shown a video of him dancing on a blog, But it seems that each time he comes up with a new move or two. Noah and I have a dance session about every day when we square off in the living room and dance battle for bragging rights to Steph. I know that I am supposed to let my kids win at things to build up their confidence, but not dance, I have to stay true to my inner rhythm and soul, so I kick his butt every time

Being a horrible driver

Can you guess? Steph with out a doubt. Noah enjoys taking rides in my parents go-kart and sometimes I let him steer when I do we head straight for trees rocks or dogs. You would think that with all the video games I play and Noah watching, he would be a better driver. but either way he has fun

Crazy good at any sport

it should come as no surprise that that is a trait from me, aside from bad mitten I dominate at all sports, so much so that I am considering changing my name to Lebron Ocho Gretzky Federer Woods Robb III. I wanted to keep Robb in there so that I could start my own legacy for Noah to follow with his skills in whichever sport he chooses.

Clumsiness

This one is a toss up, I am a very clumsy person but lately Steph has taken up that role in our relationship. Noah can do it on command, IF we tell him not to fall down he responds by laying down or setting his head on the floor, I am not sure if that is disobedience or humor, both come from me if you ask Steph

Can't Sleep alone

This one is straight from Steph's complaints for when I leave for work trips. She always complains how she has trouble sleeping alone, on the other hand, I get the best sleep when I an alone in the bed, must be the lack of getting kicked and the snoring like a saw mill. Either way Noah prefers to bunk down with his best friend

And the last trait is spazing out

Steph says that she can always tel when I have caffeine or to much sugar, she says I get really hyper and it is almost like my eyes shake, we gave Noah a cupcake the other day and he started to freak out

Great news, I am an Uncle! My brother and sister-in-law had their baby. Austin Elijah is his name and pooping is his game. It happened the Wednesday before Steph's brothers wedding so we were traveling all over Ohio a couple of weekends ago. It was great to see my family and celebrate the birth with my brother. Here are some pictures of our visit to the hospital and when they were able to bring him home.

Well, since I was homeschooled and did not go to any dances I have to go with what people have told me but you keep a little distances between you, that rule does not aply when it is a dude with his brother-in-law
